Diplomatic Academy starts a new year of junior diplomatic training

On 3 October 2013, the Diplomatic Academy officially opened a new year of diplomatic training for MFA junior diplomats. In the opening ceremony, the junior diplomats who successfully completed their training in the last academic year received their diplomas.

On 3 October 2013, an opening ceremony was held with the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Jan Kohout, to mark the start of a new academic year and to welcome ten new students enrolled in the junior diplomatic training programme. On the occasion, ten young diplomats who successfully completed the last year’s programme received their diplomas.

Junior diplomatic training is a standard gateway for everyone who wants to join the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It consists of a ten-month theoretical part covering a wide range of topics related to diplomacy and international relations, and of a practical part including internships at the MFA and Czech diplomatic missions abroad. The one-year programme also includes study visits to Brussels and Vienna and a survival course organized by Vyškov Military Academy.

To get enrolled in the junior diplomatic training programme, candidates have to pass a multi-round admission procedure, in which they prove their knowledge of the Czech Republic’s foreign policy and international relations, as well as their general knowledge and analytical skills.
