Junior diplomats visited the British embassy in Prague

The junior diplomats from the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic were invited by the British ambassador in Prague, Jan Thompson OBE, to her residence at the embassy. The meeting took place on Tuesday 26th November.

During the visit, the junior diplomats learnt about the functions of the British embassy in Prague and about the specific goals Her Excellency identified for her posting here. These are very diverse – political, economic as well as cultural. Her Excellency also provided a very open account of her diplomatic career which saw her posted to Afghanistan, Libya, or Thailand after the destructive tsunami.

Specific aspects of British foreign policy were the subject of questions from the junior diplomats. Her Excellency readily answered a wide array of questions aimed at various territories (EU and Asia) and a number of problems of foreign policy-making.

The meeting was held in informal atmosphere over a cup of English tea.
