Junior diplomats completed the survival course in Vyškov

"Zero, Zero, this is Yankee2, Yankee2, reporting four team members, zero wounded, one first-aid-kit, over!" This and many other sentences have been deeply ingrained into the memories of the students of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Czech Republic who took part in the Special Preparation Course for Crisis Situations between 18 and 25 October 2013. This 'survival course' is organized annually for the MFA by the Training Command – Military Academy of the Army of the Czech Republic in Vyškov.

The objective of the course, which forms an integral part of the junior diplomatic training, is to teach the participants the necessary knowledge and skills needed for survival in crisis situations that might occur during their postings abroad. The students of the Diplomatic Academy were given a chance to learn the basics of topography, survival in nature, first aid, and other skills carefully chosen by the experienced instructors from the Military Academy in Vyškov. They were also given a unique opportunity to live through several crisis scenarios that diplomats might find themselves in while working in any of the high-risk regions of the world.
