Social media in the U.S. Foreign Service

Ryan John Koch, expert of the Foreign Service Institute (U.S.) and instructor of Media and Information Programs, gave a lecture on social media in the U.S. Foregin Service for the Diplomatic Academy of the MFA on March 14, 2013.
Why does the State Department do social media, how is work in Public Deparment sections structured, how use U.S. embassies social media, what are the governing rules and regulations for social media in diplomacy and what are the tools to measure effectiveness of social media – all these are topics covered by Mr. Koch in his lecture on social media in the U.S. Foreign Service.
The lecture, in which more than forty Czech diplomats and diplomats from embassies of the EU countries and some other states participated, was organised by the MFA Diplomatic Academy, Director of American Centre in Prague, Mr. Miroslav Konvalina and the U.S. Embassy in Prague.
