Small Scale Projects of the Czech Republic in Developing Countries in 2016

 

Small Scale Projects are instruments of bilateral development cooperation of the Czech Republic under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). They are carried out by local stakeholders directly in developing countries in cooperation with Embassies of the Czech Republic. Financial funds of the Czech Republic contribute in this way to fulfill developing needs and to create positive change straight in location.

In 2016 financial funds were invested in the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Middle Income Countries (MICs). The funds were provided to sectors of education, other social infrastructure and services and health care/service. Foreign policy contexts were also taken into consideration. In several cases Czech products were bought or there was used Czech know-how.

There were implemented 83 small scale projects in 44 countries with total value of 26.6 million CZK. Approximately half of the funds was spent on small scale projects in the priority countries of the Czech development cooperation, the other half was spent on small scale projects implemented in other developing countries.

In geographical terms, most of the  projects were implemented in the regions of Asia and Oceania (23 projects in 11 countries with total value 7.8 million CZK) and the Western Balkans (17 projects in 5 countries with total value 4.5 million CZK). Other projects were implemented in regions of Eastern Europe (9 projects in 5 countries with total value 2.8 million CZK) and sub-Saharan Africa (16 projects in 10 countries with total value 5.7 million CZK). The lowest number of projects was implemented in Central and South America’s territory (5 projects in 5 countries with total value 1.1 million CZK) and in the Middle East and North African countries (13 projects in 8 countries for almost 4.7 million CZK).
