Midterm Review of HumAid Strategy 2017

 

In the period from January 1 – June, 30, 2017, 30 humanitarian response activities worth 110 mio CZK and implemented in 19 affected countries were approved by the Minister for Foreign Affairs. All priorities set in the Humanitarian Assistance Strategy 2017 for Q I – II have been fulfilled.
 

Mid-term review of the CZ Humanitarian Assistance Strategy 2017

Executive summary

 

  • The initial humanitarian budget worth 130 mio CZK was increased by 29 mio CZK for Syria.

  • In the period from January 1 – June, 30, 2017, 30 humanitarian response activities worth 110 mio CZK and implemented in 19 affected countries were approved by the Minister for Foreign Affairs. All priorities set in the Humanitarian Assistance Strategy 2017 for Q I – II have been fulfilled.

  • According to the HumAid Strategy 2017, humanitarian assistance worth 70 mio CZK was provided to countries affected by conflicts and forced displacement (Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen; Central African Republic, Nigeria, South Sudan; Ukraine), incl. pledges from the respective donor conferences for CAR, Syria and Yemen.

  • The Czech Republic responded to the humanitarian needs of the ODA bilateral priority countries Afghanistan, Ethiopia and Mongolia as well.

  • On the background of the current global humanitarian situation and needs, the MFA CZ has following humanitarian priorities for the rest of the year 2017:

    • Assistence to Afghan refugees in Iran and Pakistan and to returnees to Afghanistan (in cooperation with IOM and UNHCR);

    • Support to humanitarian programmes of UNICEF in Iraq, and UNRWA in Gaza and Syria (partly conflict response);

    • Further response to urgent needs in underfunded crises (Burma/Myanmar, CAR, Iraq, Libya, South Sudan);

    • Contribution to OCHA and CERF, evt. to Cholera Trust Fund for Haiti.
