Czech-UNDP Partnership for Sustainable Development Goals

 

Funded by the Ministry of  Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Europe and Central Asia, the objective of the Czech-UNDP Partnership for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is to share the Czech expertise and innovative solutions with partner countries and work together to fulfill the Agenda 2030 commitments.

Within the Partnership strategy for years 2018-2022 the following priority countries and topics were established,that are aligned with the current Strategy of the development cooperation of the Czech Republic:

Priority countries

- Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Ethiopia
- Georgia
- Cambodia,
- Moldova
- Zambia

Priority thematic areas

- Good Governance and Rule of Law
- Sustainable Management of Natural Resources
- Economic Transformation and Development
- Agriculture and Rural Development

Three main components of the Partnership include:

1) Expertise on Demand

Czech expertise is shared through hands-on experience and trainings in the partner countries, including technical assistance, expert consulting, preparation of feasibility studies, specialized on-site trainings, and study trips or professional internships.

2) Challenge Fund

The Challenge Fund: Czech Solutions for the SDGs is looking for innovative solutions that generate improvement and value, especially by introducing new methods, ideas, and products. The proposed solutions need to be sustainable and have a potential for scale up. The eligible applicants include the Czech private sector, NGOs, universities, state institutions and research centres.

3) Knowledge management

Czech-UNDP Partnership applies a knowledge management strategy to ensure that transferred know-how contributes to achieving broader outcomes and has a lasting impact. As a result, the best practices, gained experience as well as profiles of experts and knowledge products are available for the public and other stakeholders in the region.
