Support to Belarusian Civil Society/Belarusian Human Rights House in Vilnius

The Human Rights House in Vilnius, an association of Belarusian human rights organizations, is an international project established in 2006 which aims to support Belarusian democratic non-governmental organizations that focus primarily on human rights promotion and education.

With regard to the deteriorating conditions the non-governmental organizations face in Belarus, a decision was made to establish the Human Rights House outside Belarus, but within the reach of the local organizations. The initiator of this project is the Human Rights House Foundation based in Norway, whereas the Czech Republic is represented by the International Association Civic Belarus.

The Human Rights House provides safe premises for conducting the activities of Belarusian NGOs (seminars, conferences, workshops). The House is also open to Belarusian projects of their Czech counterparts. The project run by the International Association Civic Belarus in 2006 within the Transition Promotion Program covered part of the operating costs.
