The project focused on promotion of democratic values among Moldovan youth and their active involvement in the political life on local level. The project is thus building on previous activities implemented in Cahul region by Caritas Czech Republic in partnership with AO Succes, within the project Youth and local public administration: a sustainable partnership.
Result 1.1: Youth are mobilized to participate in municipal elections
The workshop and a follow-up campaign Social media for social change targeted the youth issues. The next workshop offered the topics of democracy and human rights. A public debate related to the local elections has been held between the workshop participants and candidates to the local council. To the second debate, held several months after the election, participated also the new local council representatives. Several Peer-to-peer initiatives organized by motivated young people took place in 16 schools from Cahul region, dealing with such subjects as human rights, youth participation, democracy etc.
Result 1.2: Youth participate in decision-making process at local level
Implementation of 10 selected small grant projects supported the youth involvement within communities. All activities implemented within the project Moldovan youth for Europe were presented at the final summit.
Result 2.1: Young people are familiar with the democratic culture and values of the European Union
The topic of EU was present at the second summer school and at the occasion of the Week of European values. A significant project activity was the study visit of young Moldovan to the Czech Republic on the theme of civic participation.
