Czech-Lithuanian policy planning consultations

On 20 February 2017, the Czech MFA hosted consultations of policy planning departments of the Czech and Lithuanian MFAs.

The main topics discussed included the new U.S. administration, changes in U.S. attitudes towards NATO and the EU, the future of the EU and Brexit, Russia, Eastern Partnership, regional cooperation and the Three Seas Initiative. Representatives of both ministries agreed on the importance of maintaining a strong transatlantic partnership, the need for a greater EU role in safeguarding European security, the shared interest of both the EU and UK in a future well-functionning cooperation, the preference for deepening existing areas of EU member states cooperation, the need for a united EU stance towards Russia and the importance of the Eastern Partnership maintaining its attractiveness.
