Czechia is Like a Gallery for the Filipinos

An influential Filipino cultural magazine Art+ is about to lunch the very first tourist trip to the Czech Republic for local art connoisseurs. It is the result of the recent journey of the editor-inchief of Art+ to Czechia organized by CzechTourism. A report from the trip will appear in the next volume of Art+ magazine, which is the most influential art magazine in the Philippines with more than 100 million of citizens.

The aim of intensive cooperation with a prestigious art magazine is to attract the those Filipinos who have strong historical feelings for the Czech art. In effect, it is not the first article about Czechia in the publication. For instance, the last volume of the bimonthly magazine featured an exclusive interview with the ambassador of the Czech Republic in Manila, Mr. Jaroslav Olša.

A part of the magazine will be also devoted to the exhibition of the Philippine’s national artist Federico Aguilara Alcuaz. He emplyed a unique creative technique called “art protis” which was originally patented in the Czech Republic. Mr Alcuaze lived and worked in the Czech city of Brno in the 60s until the 80s of the last century. The exhibition of his work has been displayed since august in one of the three main buildings of the Philippine’s National Museum. The event is organised with the participation of the Czech Embassy in Manila and with the help of experts from the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague.
