Briefing of Deputy Minister Chmelař on the priorities of the Czech V4 Presidency 2019/2020

 

On July 27, 2019 Deputy Minister for Europe Aleš Chmelař has briefed the Diplomatic Corps in the Czech Republic about the programme and priorities of the Presidency of the Czech Republic in the Visegrad Group 2019/2020.

Under the motto V4Reasonable Europe, the Czech Presidency will follow up on the Slovak Presidency programme and in close cooperation with the other V4 partners will apply a rational, pragmatic and constructive approach, put emphasis on European agenda and formats and work on the broadening of the coalition potential of the V4 within the EU and in its neighbourhood. The Czech Presidency's overall aim, under the motto „.. will be to strengthen the Visegrad Group's position in the EU and NATO while fostering unity and cohesion of the two organisations.  

The main priority areas of CZ V4 PRES will be 3R:  

Reasonable solutions: deepening of the internal market of the EU and the preservation of its four freedoms, economic and social convergence in the EU, the EU enlargement to the Western Balkans and the EU Eastern Neighbourhood Policy, defense cooperation, people-to-people relations, including the role of the IVF.   

Revolutionary technologies – innovative economy and its social impacts:research, development and innovation, artificial intelligence, digitlal single market, support to start ups and innovative ecosystem  

Reconciling approaches: negotiations on MFF, future of migration and asylum policies, climate and energy policy, infrastructures.
