Long-term residence permit of a resident of another Member State of the European Union

You may submit an application for a long-term stay for a Community resident if you are a citizen of a state other than an EU Member State, have been granted the legal status of a Community resident in another EU Member State and intend to stay temporarily in the territory of the Czech Republic for a period longer than 3 month. If you are a resident of another EU Member State, you will file you application at the DM or with the police in the territory of the Czech Republic.

Particulars of the application:

  • a completed application;
  • a document confirming the availability of accommodation during your stay in the territory
  • a travel document;
  • two photographs;
  • a document confirming that you have been granted the legal status of a resident in another EU Member State;
  • a document confirming that the sum of the family income after reunification will not be less than the sum of:

1.  the subsistence minimum amounts of all family members; and

2.  the maximum amount of standardized housing costs determined by a special law or housing contribution purposes or the amount you prove by credible evidence as the amount of actual justified cost spent on family housing;

  • an excerpt from the Penal Register to assess your criminal record, issued by the state whose national you are, as well as by states where you stayed for more than 6 consecutive months in the last 3 years, or a solemn declaration if such state does not issue such document. A foreign document must be appropriately certified unless stipulated otherwise by an international treaty that is binding for the Czech Republic, and accompanied by an official translation into Czech;
  • a medical report certifying that you do not suffer from a serious disease (if requested);
  • travel medical insurance for an amount of at least 30,000 EUR, covering the entire Schengen Area (such insurance shall be presented before affixing the visa in the passport; however, we recommend presenting the insurance at the time of submission of the visa application);
  • a proof of payment of the fee for submission of the application

- for the purpose of employment

Particulars of the application:

  • a completed application;
  • a document confirming the availability of accommodation during your stay in the territory
  • a travel document;
  • a photograph;
  • an employment permit or the reference number of the application for the employment permit and the identification of the labour office in the Czech Republic where such application has been filed;
  • your employer's statement that he will employ you;
  • an excerpt from the Penal Register to assess your criminal record, issued by the state whose national you are, as well as by states where you stayed for more than 6 consecutive months in the last 3 years, or a solemn declaration if such state does not issue such document. A foreign document must be appropriately certified unless stipulated otherwise by an international treaty that is binding for the Czech Republic, and accompanied by an official translation into Czech;
  • travel medical insurance for an amount of at least 30,000 EUR, covering the entire Schengen Area (such insurance shall be presented before affixing the visa in the passport; however, we recommend presenting the insurance at the time of submission of the visa application);
  • a proof of payment of the fee for submission of the application

You may also file an application for long-term residence if you are a family member of a resident in another Member State of the European Union, if you are permitted to reside with him for family reunification purposes in the territory of the state that has granted such legal status to the resident of another EU Member State, or if such person was granted in the territory of this state the legal status of resident of another Member State of the European Union.

Particulars of the application:

  • a completed application;
  • a document confirming the availability of accommodation during your stay in the territory
  • a travel document;
  • a photograph;
  • a document confirming the purpose of stay in the territory of the Czech Republic, i.e. the fact that you have been permitted to stay with the resident for family reunification purposes in the territory of the state that has granted such legal status to the resident, or that you are a resident of another EU Member State;
  • a document confirming that the sum of the family income after reunification will not be less than the sum of:

1.  the subsistence minimum amounts of all family members; and
