Resident of Another EU Member State

Long-term residence permit of a resident of another Member State of the EU is intended for foreigners who have status of (permanent) resident in another Member State of the EU and will stay in the Czech Republic for a period longer than three months.

Application for this type of residence permit can be submitted either abroad at the diplomatic mission of the Czech Republic or on the territory of the Czech Republic at the Ministry of the Interior – in this case within three months after arrival in the Czech Republic.

Abroad applications for long-term residence permits of a resident of another Member State of the EU are submitted at the diplomatic missions of the Czech Republic according to the consular territorial competence. The diplomatic mission forwards the application to the Ministry of the Interior for evaluation and decision. If the application is evaluated positively, the diplomatic mission where the application was filled issues a long-term visa for the purpose of collecting the long-term residence permit for the purpose of study. The foreigner collects the permit after the arrival to the Czech Republic at the Ministry of the Interior.
