Essential Travel


Short-term travel to CZE continues to be restricted to essential travel. Essential travel does not apply to fully vaccinated persons and persons travelling from "green" countries.


family members of EU / CZ citizens

unmarried permanent partners of EU / CZ citizens

● exceptional situations when travel to the Czech Republic is essential - such circumstances must be duly atested by a head of a state institution

● travel in exceptional emergency situations: emergency medical services, duties bestowed by a court, official summons, fulfillment of judicial decision, official proceedings, entrance examination, recognition examination, indispensable care for close family members who cannot take care for themselves, parental/foster care for a child and contact with this child, other humanitarian situations

● staff accredited at diplomatic missions in the Czech Republic, incl. private support staff, and officials of international organizations registered by the MFA of the Czech Republic

● holders of diplomatic passports travelling for official purposes

● employees in scientific, key and highly qualified professions fulfilling conditions of the Highly Qualified Worker Program and Key and Research Staff Program

critical infrastructure workers 

international transport workers

seasonal workers (based on Decree of the Ministry of Labor and Social Services No. 322/2017 Coll.)

health, social services, and food processing employees

● employees who are citizens of Ukraine and submit their applications in Ukraine - daily limit in Kiev = 500 and in Lvov = 500
