Submitting Visa and Residence Permit Applications

 

These lists of countries are compiled in accordance with the Article I Paragraphs 10 and 11 of the Protective Measure of the Ministry of Health from May 26, 2020, Article 41 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and Article 55 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.

I. List of countries where diplomatic missions/offices of the Czech Republic have resumed accepting and processing applications

II. Diplomatic missions of the Czech Republic where visa services have been resumed accept applications in this extent:

SCHENGEN VISAS:

Acceptance of applications from          

family members of EU / Czech Republic citizens

international transport workers

critical infrastructure workers 

● diplomats and officials of international organizations

seasonal workers (based on Decree of the Ministry of Labor and Social Services No. 322/2017 Coll.)

● health and social services employees and their family members

● food processing employees

● in the interest of the Czech Republic

● in exceptional emergency situations as defined in Article III Paragraph 3 of the Protective Measure of the Ministry of Health from May 26, 2020

LONG-TERM VISAS AND RESIDENCE PERMITS:

a/ Acceptance of applications for         

LONG-TERM VISA FOR THE PURPOSE OF SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT (based on Decree of the Ministry of Labor and Social Services No. 322/2017 Coll.)

SPECIAL WORK VISA

● visas / residence permits within the KEY AND SCIENTIFIC PERSONNEL PROGRAM

● visas / residence permits within the HIGHLY QUALIFIED EMPLOYEES PROGRAM

● visas / residence permits within the PROGRAM QUALIFIED EMPLOYEE health and social services employees only

● LONG- TERM RESIDENCE PERMITS FOR THE PURPOSE OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH and applications for long-term residence permits of their spouses and minor children

● LONG-TERM AND PERMANENT RESIDENCE PERMITS FOR THE PURPOSE OF FAMILY UNIFICATION, but only in those cases, when the family unification involves spouses and minor children of foreign nationals who already reside in the Czech Republic on a basis of a long-term or permanent residence permit; other family members cannot file these applications at the moment

● LONG-TERM VISAS FOR THE FAMILY PURPOSE, but only in those cases, when the family unification involves spouses and minor children of foreign nationals who already reside in the Czech Republic on a basis of a long-term or permanent residence permit; other family members cannot file these applications at the moment

LONG-TERM VISAS FOR THE PURPOSE OF STUDY and RESIDENCE PERMITS FOR THE PURPOSE OF STUDY

visas for the purpose of collecting residence permits (the so-called D/VR type visa) – the so-called VISA STICKER TRANSFER – for any purpose of stay

b/ Resumption of processing of applications

As of May 18, 2020, processing of all applications for long-term visas and residence permits that have been started before March 14, 2020 (that means continuation of examining those applications that have been filed before the state of emergency), are resumed at diplomatic missions that have partially resumed visa services (1st table).

III. Notice  entry to the Czech Republic

1/ Holders of long-term visas and residence permits:

These foreign nationals can enter the Czech Republic only upon submission of proof of test for COVID-19 (see sample here), according to Article I Point 1 of the Protective Measure of the Ministry of Health from May 26, 2020 (no. MZDR 20588/2020-4/MIN/KAN)

The proof should take a form of a medical confirmation that the foreign national has undergone a RT-PCR test in a laboratory authorized to do these tests for SARS CoV-2 with a negative result. The confirmation may not be older than four days before the entry into the Czech Republic.

Foreign nationals arrange for these tests at their own costs and must possess them upon entry into the Czech Republic. Entry will be denied if this requirement is not fulfilled.

The confirmation must include data allowing verification that the test has been carried out, the type and date of the test, as well as data about the test performing laboratory.

2/ Holders of Schengen visas:

We request holders of Schengen visas to kindly consult information of the Ministry of the Interior here (see 2. Entry into the territory of the Czech Republic, point "Conditions for foreign nationals newly coming into the territory of the Czech Republic, thus for those who previously did not reside in the Czech territory") on the obligation to submit the test.

 

IV. List of countries where diplomatic missions of the Czech Republic continue to be closed for the purposes of accepting and processing applications, until further notice
