Long-Term Visa, Long-Term Residence Permit, Permanent Residence Permit

 

When lodging a long-term visa, long-term residence permit or permanent residence permit application, the so-called territorial consular competence rule applies.

This means that application can be lodged at the consulate with the territorial consular competence for a STATE:

1) OF WHICH THE APPLICANT IS A CITIZEN,

2) IN WHICH THE APPLICANT RESIDES ON A LONG-TERM / PERMANENT BASIS FOR AT LEAST TWO YEARS,

3) WHICH ISSUED THE APPLICANT´S PASSPORT.

 

CITIZENS OF THE FOLLOWING STATES ARE EXEMPT FROM THIS RULE:

  • ALBANIA
  • ANDORRA
  • ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA
  • ARGENTINA
  • AUSTRALIA
  • BAHAMAS
  • BARBADOS  
  • BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
  • BRAZIL
  • BRUNEI
  • CANADA
  • COSTA RICA
  • GUATEMALA
  • HOLLY SEE
  • HONDURAS
  • HONG KONG, Sp. Admin. Region
  • CHILE
  • ISRAEL
  • JAPAN
  • MACAO, Sp. Admin. Region
  • MALAYSIA
  • MAURITIUS
  • MEXICO
  • MONACO
  • MONTENEGRO
  • NEW ZEALAND
  • NICARAGUA
  • NORTH MACEDONIA
  • PANAMA
  • PARAGUAY
  • SAINT KITTS AND NEVIS
  • SALVADOR
  • SAN MARINO
  • SERBIA
  • SEYCHELLES
  • SINGAPORE
  • SOUTH KOREA
  • TAI-WAN
  • UNITED KINGDOM
  • UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
  • URUGUAY
  • VENEZUELA

Citizens of these states can lodge their applications for long-term visas, long-term residence permits and permanent residence permits at any diplomatic mission of the Czech Republic the territorial consular competence rule  does not apply to them.

Note: The Czech Republic does not have a diplomatic representation in every state. Some diplomatic missions of the Czech Republic are accredited for more states. An overview of territorial districts of diplomatic missions of the Czech Republic can be found here.
