Deputy Minister Dub met European Commissioner for Development

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Tomáš Dub met European Commissioner for Development Andris Piebalgs at the Czernin Palace on October 7, 2010. The meeting was held as a part of cycle of journeys to the new EU member states accomplished by the European Commissioner.
The meeting was focused on issues of implementation of the new EU member states transformation experience in development cooperation, discussing current EU proposals, especially upcoming EU Green Book on future development policy and support of private sector.
The visit of Andris Piebalgs was aimed on evaluation of standing development activities of the new EU member states more intense involvement in EU development cooperation and stimulating to fulfillment of their financial obligations.
European Commissioner took decision to visit all new EU member states. He has accomplished visits to Poland and Romania. Besides the Czech Republic, he is going to visit Slovenia, Latvia, Estonia and Slovakia this autumn.
