Czech-Korean Relations: Ministerial Phone Conversation

 

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Lubomír Zaorálek held a telephone conversation with Mr Yun Byung-se, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea on 14th March, 2014.

The ministers exchanged their views on bilateral relations, economic cooperation and high-level exchanges between the two countries. They also discussed issues of mutual concern, including North Korea's nuclear program and the situation on the Korean Peninsula. Minister Yun congratulated Minister Zaorálek on his appointment as foreign minister.

Minister Zaorálek emphasized that the Czech Government considers the Republic of Korea an important partner in Asia and is determined to develop further this strategic relationship. The Ministers agreed to cooperate closely enhancing bilateral relations in a wide range of areas.

Regarding the situation on the Korean Peninsula, minister Zaorálek stated that the Democratic People´s Republic of Korea should show more willingness to engage in a dialogue with the international community, including the framework of the Six Party Talks, which would contribute to regional stability.

Minister Zaorálek invited Minister Yun Byung-se to visit the Czech Republic. Also, he expressed his hope that the President of the Republic of Korea, Ms. Park Geun-hye will be willing to accept the invitation of the Czech President Miloš Zeman to pay an official visit to the Czech Republic later this year.
