Minister Zaorálek Received Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Lubomír Zaorálek received parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Korea led by the Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Lee Byung-suk, on 8th April, 2014. The delegation was accompanied by the Executive Vice-President of the Korean power company KEPCO, Mr. Park Jung-keun.

Both sides agreed that there has been a dynamic development of Czech-Korean relations in recent years. For the Czech Republic, the Republic of Korea has become one of the most important non-European trading partners. With successful investment of carmaker company Hyundai, Korean Air, Korean Doosan Group and many others, new opportunities for further expansion of cooperation have now emerged. One of the areas of future Czech-Korean cooperation lies in the energy sector. There is also a great potential in tourism.

Current international issues were also discussed during the meeting, including the situation in Ukraine. Minister Zaorálek assured the Korean guests that the Czech Republic is closely following developments on the Korean Peninsula. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic has repeatedly strongly condemned the nuclear tests and missile tests in the DPRK.
