Minister Zaorálek Met with President of the European Parliament

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Lubomír Zaorálek received the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz on 11th April, 2014.

The meeting was an opportunity to exchange views on the situation in the EU before the European Parliament elections, on issues related to the establishment of the new European Commission, to fill other top positions in the EU institutions as well as to the ways how the politicians could contribute to strengthen citizens’ confidence in the European integration project.      

Minister Zaorálek also informed about new highlights in CR’s foreign and EU policy, including the decision to stop the negotiations regarding the so called Czech Protocol on the application of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU in the Czech Republic and to accede to the Treaty on Stability, Coordination and Governance in the Economic and Monetary Union. Both parties also assesed the current situation in Ukraine and possibilities how to help the country on EU and bilateral levels.
