Deputy Minister Drulák met Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency

 

On 28 April, 2014, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Petr Drulák met with Yukiya Amano, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

They discussed issues of non-compliance with the IAEA Safeguards Agreement by some countries (Iran, DPRK and Syria), preparations for the Helsinki Conference on Weapons of Mass Destruction Free Zone in the Middle East, as well as the Czech Republic’s collaboration with the Agency (Peaceful Uses Initiative projects and IAEA technical cooperation program). Mr Amano appreciated continuous support of the Czech Republic to the Agency in the implementation of its mandate.

Mr Amano who pays his first ever visit to the Czech Republic, will also visit the Temelín nuclear power plan to learn about measures taken to increase nuclear safety in the aftermath of the Fukushima power plant accident in 2011.
