They discussed mainly the current situation in the Gaza strip since the last ceasefire, and exchanged their opinions on the possible solution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Minister Zaorálek and the Speaker of the Knesset also discussed the forthcoming joint meeting of the Czech and Israeli governments in Jerusalem.

„Both Speaker Edelstein and I have agreed that a joint meeting of our governments, planned for early November, is very important for the development of our mutual relations, mainly in trade, science and research," minister Zaorálek said.

Czech foreign minister also commented on the mutual discussion about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict: „I have expressed my support to the moderate leadership of President Abbas. I have also fully supported the need to restart the peace talks between Palestine and Israel."

The Speaker of the Israeli Knesset arrived in the Czech Republic at the invitation of the Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies. During his visit, he will meet with top Czech leaders, including the chairmen of both chambers of the Parliament and the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic. Yuli-Yoel Edelstein will also meet with members of the Czech Jewish community and will pay his respects at the Lidice memorial.
