Slavkov/Austerlitz Collaboration: First Working Session Held at the MFA

The Slavkov/Austerlitz format of the neighbourly collaboration between the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria was established in January 2015. The first full-fledged meeting of all six working groups took place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic in Prague on June 17, 2015.

The meeting was chaired by high-ranking representatives of all three countries, Deputy Minister Petr Drulák (the Czech Republic), State Secretaries Peter Javorčík (Slovakia) and Michael Linhart (Austria), who are officially entitled to facilitate this format of collaboration aiming at improvement of the energy and transport infrastructure of the region as well as facilitation cooperation in the European policies. All coordinators stressed their conviction that “efforts to strengthen substantive cooperation among neighbouring Member States of the EU is an important dynamic element of European integration and that the Slavkov/Austerlitz cooperation adds a new common forum to these efforts.”

The representatives of the six working groups (Transport/Infrastructure, Youth Employment/Dual Education, Energy Infrastructure/ Energy Security, Cross Border Cooperation/ Facilitation of EU Funds, Western Balkans/ Eastern Partnership, Social Dimension of the European Integration) presented as outcome of their separate sessions working plans for the ongoing year until the Slovak Republic will take over the coordination of the Slavkov/Austerlitz cooperation in 2016.

The next coordination meeting under the Czech lead will take place in late autumn 2015.
