Czech Republic To Donate Ammunition to Iraq in Support of Efforts to Defeat ISIL / Da’esh

On July 22, 2015, the Government of the Czech Republic approved a new donation of ammunition for Iraqi armed and security forces to support their campaign to defeat ISIL / Da’esh. It is another significant contribution of the Czech Republic to the efforts of the Global Coalition against ISIL / Da’esh and support for Iraq.

The Iraqi armed and security forces, including Peshmergas, will receive ammunition to guns and hand grenades from the Czech Republic. The donated military material will be used against the group known as ISIL / Da’esh, which has committed grave crimes and violence against civilian population in Iraq and Syria and significantly worsened the security situation in the Middle East. It will be a second donation of ammunition to Iraq by the Czech Republic, following the donation of military material in second half of 2014, in response to the urgent request for support.
The Czech Republic is a member of the Global Coalition against ISIL / Da’esh and actively participates in the activities of the Coalition´s Working Group on Stabilization Support. The Czech Republic has repeatedly provided humanitarian aid to Iraq and supports refugees and internally displaced persons in Iraqi refugee camps. Further support of the Czech Republic will include training of Iraqi medical personnel and police training.
