The Prague Agenda 2015 Conference at MFA

Date: 14.10.2015 - 15.10.2015 , Venue: Czernin palace

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic will host a conference “ The Prague Agenda in 2015 – Nuclear Deterrence: Enduring Concepts and Current Debates” in the cooperation with the Institute of International Relations, Charles University and Metropolitan University Prague. The event will take place in the Great Hall of the Czernin Palace on October 14-15, 2015.

In the past few years Prague hosted two major international security events. In April 2009 President of the USA Barack Obama announced in Prague his long-term nuclear disarmament vision. A year later, he and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev crowned the process of bilateral US-Russian nuclear arms control talks by signing the new START Treaty.

Following these two historical events Prague has established itself as a venue for discussion and taking stock of issues related to the topics of nuclear non-proliferation, disarmament and peaceful use of the nuclear energy through a unique concept of a conference where the academic and political world can meet and exchange views on the respective issues in a broad strategic context.

The aim of the “Prague Agenda” conference, organized this year for the fifth time, is to assess the results of recent non-proliferation and arms control events as well as to develop new initiatives which were presented by major players recently.

The “Prague Agenda” will be followed by a conference „Eliminating the Risks of Nuclear Weapons“ organized by the international non-partisan parliamentary forum PNND (Parliamentarians for Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament).
