Special Envoy Füle visited Kosovo

Special Envoy for the OSCE and the Western Balkans Štefan Füle visited Kosovo from 7th to 9th February 2016. In Pristina, he met with several state officials as well as with representatives of civil society and the business sector. The meetings focused on the process of visa liberalization, the dialogue for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, the internal political situation, and the opportunities for the Czech companies in Kosovo. Füle expressed the interest of the Czech Republic in consultations with Kosovo at all levels and confirmed the support of the Czech Republic to the enlargement policy as one of the most effective external instruments of the EU.

Special Envoy Füle talked about the visa liberalization dialogue with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Hashim Thaçi and Minister of European Integration Bekim Çollaku. On this occasion, he presented a letter from the Minister of Foreign Affairs Lubomír Zaorálek expressing support of the Czech Republic to this process. Taking into account the Kosovo government's demonstrated commitment to the visa liberalization dialogue, the Czech Republic is convinced the visa-free travel for Kosovo citizens will soon become a reality.

Štefan Füle discussed the domestic political situation with President Atifete Jahjaga, former President Fatmir Sejdiu, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Assembly Enver Hoxhaj and chairman of the opposition party AAK Ramush Haradinaj. The talks with Head of the EU Office in Kosovo/EU Special Representative Samuel Žbogar focused mainly on the political dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia and the European Integration Process. Furthermore, Special Envoy Füle met with former Deputy Minister of Interior Saša Rašić and the representatives of the NGO Center for Peace and Tolerance. Štefan Füle also attended a dinner with the representatives of companies Ekoinvest and ProjectPlus.
