Deputy Minister Tlapa to Hold Talks with His Syrian Counterpart

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Martin Tlapa will receive First Deputy Foreign Minister of the Syrian Arab Republic Faisal Mekdad in the Czernin Palace on April 21, 2016. Their talks are following Deputy Minister Tlapa’s consultations in Damascus in November 2015.

The aim of the visit is to further support the implementation of the relevant UN SC resolutions on Syria and conclusions of the International Syria Support Group. Deputy Ministers will also express support for the ongoing peace talks in Geneva. Other topics will include the increase of humanitarian aid to the Syrian civilian population provided through the Czech Embassy in Damascus with the aim to relieve the pressure on the country considered one of the main origins of migration.

Deputy Minister Mekdad will visit Czech Republic on April 20 – 22, 2016 and will be accompanied by the Deputy Minister for European Affairs Ayman Soussan. He will be received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Lubomír Zaorálek, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Andrej Babiš and Minister of Trade and Industry Jan Mládek. He will also meet with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivo Šrámek, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Czech Parliament’s Chamber of Deputies Karel Schwarzenberg and with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and of the Confederation of Industry.
