On September 13, 2016 Deputy Minister for Security and Multilateral Issues and Political Director Ivo Šrámek summoned H. E. Mr. Kim Pyong Il, Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, to communicate the Czech Republic's deep concern over the recent nuclear test and ballistic missile launches.
These acts are seen by the Czech Republic as a clear and serious violation of obligation to refrain from producing nuclear weapons and from testing nuclear explosive devices and long range ballistic missiles as provided in relevant UNSC resolutions. This DPRK's policy jeopardizes the stability of the Korean Peninsula and the region and threatens the international peace. Deputy Minister Šrámek urged the DPRK to return to a meaningful and credible dialogue with the international community, in particular through renewed participation in the Six-Party Talks. He has emphasized that without change of DPRK's approach the international restrictive measures would continue.
