Deputy Minister Kolaja at the Conference “Czech Expatriates and the Many Faces of Czech Expatriate Identity”

Deputy Foreign Minister Václav Kolaja delivered one of the opening speeches at the Conference “Czech Expatriates and the Many Faces of Czech Expatriate Identity”. This event was organized by the International Coordination Committee of Czechs Living Abroad, a platform for Czech expatriates from across the globe, at the National Museum in Prague on September 28 – 30, 2016.
Over 120 Czech expatriates from 20 different countries discussed the issue of expatriate identity. Emphasis was given on many aspects of the expatriate experience and identity, including the changing links with the home country and the Czech language.
Other opening speeches were given by First Vice-President of the Czech Senate Přemysl Sobotka, Chairman of the Standing Senate Commission on Compatriots Living Abroad Tomáš Grulich and Special Envoy for Expatriate Affairs Jaroslav Kantůrek. Honorary President Eliška Hašková Coolige spoke on behalf of the organizer.
