Deputy Foreign Minister Kolaja at the Conference on the Central African Republic

 

Deputy Minister Václav Kolaja lead the delegation of the Czech Republic at the international donor conference in support of the Central African Republic on Nov 17, 2016, in Brussels. The conference was co-hosted by EU institutions and the Government of the Central African Republic. The conference was attended by 80 delegations who pledged over USD 2,2 billion for the reconstruction and development of the country over the next three years.

Deputy Minister Kolaja in his remarks stressed the Czech Republic's humanitarian efforts in the Central African Republic. The Czech Republic has been delivering basic nutrition and health services and has also been contributing to the rebuilding of infrastructure in the capital city of Bangui. The Czech NGO Siriri, supported by the Czech Foreign Ministry, has been working in the country on improving and expanding basic education services.

The conference was co-chaired by EU High Representative Federica Mogherini and President of the Central African Republic Faustin-ArchangeTouadéra who introduced his country's National Plan for Recovery and Peacebuilding.
