Deputy Minister Kolaja at the Middle East Peace Process Conference

Deputy Foreign Minister Václav Kolaja participated at the January 15, 2017 Paris international conference on the Middle East Peace Process that was preceded by the preparatory ministerial meeting on the peace process organized by France on June 3, 2016 in Paris.

The main aim of the conference was to demonstrate the support of the international community for the peace process and for the two-state solution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and to contribute to an atmosphere that is conducive to the renewal of direct negotiations. In conclusion of the conference a Joint Declaration was approved confirming the readiness of the international community to support both sides of the conflict in seeking a peaceful solution.

In his speech Deputy Minister Kolaja stressed the need for direct Israeli-Palestinian dialogue as the fundamental prerequisite for ensuring sustainable peace. He likewise appealed to both sides to do their utmost to raise their young generations to mutual respect.
