Deputy Minister Kolaja Celebrates the 60th Anniversary of the Renewal of Czech-Japanese Relations

Deputy Foreign Minister Václav Kolaja inaugurated on behalf of Foreign Minister Lubomír Zaorálek the 10th Festival of Japanese Film and Culture in the Czech Republic. The Festival starts the Year of Japanese Culture in the Czech Republic, which is held on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of the renewal of Czech-Japanese diplomatic relations. This coincides with the holding of the Year of Czech Culture in Japan, whose highlight will be the exhibition in Tokio of Alfons Mucha's Slav Epic.

This year's Japanese Film Festival is taking place under the title “The Japanese Laugh”. As Deputy Minister Kolaja pointed out in his speech, the Czechs and the Japanese share among other things a great appreciation of laughter and a good sense of humor, which enhances their mutual understanding and elevates relations between the Czechs and the Japanese to a special level.
