Deputy Minister Tlapa held political consultations with Salvador

 

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Non- European Countries, Economic and Development Cooperation Martin Tlapa met with Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Integration and Economic Development of the Republic of El Salvador Carlos Alfredo Castaneda on the February 21st, 2017, in the Czernin Palace during the 5th political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and of the Republic of El Salvador.

The discussion focused mainly on the issue of strengthening bilateral relations, notably on the increase in bilateral trade in light of the fact that the Republic of El Salvador is the most important trade partner of the Czech Republic in Central America. The possibility of extending cultural cooperation through the activities of honorary consulates in both countries was also discussed. Both sides also mentioned other forms of cooperation, for example in the fields of forestation or science and technology.

The consultations also provided the opportunity to evaluate multilateral topics including the preparation of the next 2017 EU-LAC summit in El Salvador and current regional issues in Latin America and Europe.
