Deputy Ministers Tlapa and Kaucký Met with Deputy Minister of Burkina Faso

Deputy Minister for Non-European Countries, Economic and Development Cooperation Martin Tlapa and Deputy Minister Lukáš Kaucký on March 23, 2017 in Czernin Palace held talks with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso, Mrs. Rita Solange Agneketom Bogore during her working visit to the Czech Republic.

The Czech side appreciated the progress achieved by the current government of Burkina Faso in stabilization and democratization of the country, despite the uneasy security situation in the region. Burkina Faso faces threats of terrorism, islamist radicalism and illicit trade in arms and drugs. With respect to the international dimension of these threats, both delegations agreed on the need to cooperate in the security field, both on bilateral and multilateral level. In this regard, Deputy Minister Bogore appreciated Czech presence in the EU training mission in Mali (EUTM).

The talks further focused on possible cooperation in the agricultural sector, as agriculture is the key source of livelihood for the majority of Burkinabe population and improving the living standards is the most important tool in fighting radicalization. Deputy Minister Tlapa said that the Czech side was ready for economic and development cooperation in this sector.

During the visit, Deputy Minister Kaucký handed over to Deputy Minister Bogore the official invitation for the Speaker of the National Assembly of Burkina Faso for a visit of the Czech Republic.
