Deputy Minister Kolaja Met Chief Executive Officer of the American Jewish Committee

 

On March 31, 2017, Deputy Foreign Minister Václav Kolaja met David Harris Chief Executive Officer of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) who was visiting the Czech Republic together with his team on the occasion of the launch of the AJC Central Europe Office in Warsaw.

David Harris explained that the main objective of the AJC's new Central European branch was to increase AJC's cooperation with the countries of the region and help strengthen both their transatlantic ties and links with Israel.  

Deputy Minister Kolaja appreciated excellent relations between the Czech Republic and the AJC and highlighted the important role that the AJC had played in the 1990s when the Czech Republic was joining transatlantic structures. He also stressed the importance of the transatlantic link, which along with the Czech Republic's membership in the European Union and NATO forms the basis of Czech foreign policy. 

Both partners also spoke highly of the strategic partnership between the Czech Republic and the State of Israel that has historical roots and reaffirmed their interest in continuing cooperation and discussions on current foreign policy issues.
