Deputy Minister Stašek Held Talks in Zimbabwe and Zambia

 

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Miloslav Stašek realized a working trip to Zimbabwe and Zambia between April 3 and 8, 2017. He met with high representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Heads of the EU Delegation of both countries.

In Zimbabwe, Deputy Minister Stašek had a meeting with Deputy Minister Edgar Mbwembwe. They discussed the possibilities of the development of bilateral relations and saw perspectives especially in the area of education, tourism and mutual trade. In Zambia, Deputy Minister Stašek met with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Chalwe Lombe. They talked about the opening of the Czech Embassy in Lusaka and further deepening of bilateral relations. They found promising namely the collaboration in the area of agriculture and food industry, which would concern Minister of Agriculture Milan Jurečka who is about to visit Zambia at the end of April 2017.

Deputy Minister Stašek also visited a school and free time premises including the boxing gym located in the poorest Lusaka neighborhood called Chibolya. The equipment of the mentioned premises was financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic in close cooperation with NGO Njovou. Deputy Minister Stašek informed his counterpart that Zambia would become one of the priority countries of the Czech Development Cooperation as of 2018.
