Their talks will focus on the priorities of the Czech Republic's upcoming chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (May-November 2017), the practical issues of the chairmanship, issues related to the mandate of the organization, i.e. the protection of human rights, democracy and the rule of law, as well as current foreign policy issues. 　

Secretary General Jagland will also meet with Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, Minister of Justice Robert Pelikán and Chairman of the Foreign Committee of the Chamber of Deputies Karel Schwarzenberg. The last visit of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe in the Czech Republic took place in 2015.
