Minister Zaorálek to Hold Talks with His Counterpart from Belarus

Minister of Foreign Affairs Lubomír Zaorálek will welcome Minister of Foreign  Affaires of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Makei in the Czernin Palace on June 16, 2017. The visit of the Chief of Belarusian diplomacy will mainly focus on options for strengthening the cooperation of both countries emphasizing the economy and trade.

Ministers will discuss the democratization process in Belarus and examine possible ways of cooperation between Belarus and the EU within the framework of the Eastern Partnership. Current international issues, including the development in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, will be on their agenda, too.

The visit takes place in a period of transformation of EU-Belarus relations and corresponds to the objectives of the Czech foreign policy to carry on deepening the cooperation of both countries.

This year the Czech Republic and Belarus commemorate the 500th anniversary of the first version of the Bible in Belorusian that was carried out in Prague by Francisk Skaryna from Polotsk. On this occasion, ministers will lay wreaths in Skaryna’s statue in Prague.
