Deputy Minister Kaucký Held Talks with OSCE Secretary General

On September 8, 2017, Deputy Foreign Minister Lukáš Kaucký met with Thomas Greminger, newly appointed Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Secretary General addressed the Concluding Meeting of the 25th OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum, traditionally hosted by Prague.

Deputy Foreign Minister Kaucký and Secretary General Thomas Greminger discussed prospects of resolving the conflict in the eastern Ukraine, including the necessity of full implementation of the Minsk agreements. The OSCE is engaged in solving the situation in Ukraine via its Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) which is currently the largest OSCE field operation. They also discussed the Czech support for SMM, both by seconding monitors as well as by financial contributions.

Deputy Minister Kaucký assured the visitor of the continued support of the Czech Republic for the OSCE work in all three dimensions, including security. They also considered possible host support by Prague for the OSCE “Security Days” as part of the OSCE dialogue on current security challenges and their solutions.
