Deputy Minister Dürr at a Meeting of V4 and Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Greece, Slovenia and Serbia in Budapest

 

On the initiative of the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Mr. Péter Szijjártó, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Visegrad Group countries and Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece,  Romania, Serbia and Slovenia met in Budapest on December 4, 2017. The Czech Republic was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister for Europe Jakub Dürr.

At the meeting, ministers supported the EU accession of the Western Balkan countries and discussed the future of the EU and the possibilities for enhancing the energy security in Europe. In his speech, Deputy Minister Dürr stressed that the Western Balkans is a priority region for all the countries participating in the meeting and that they all agree that the enlargement policy is of key importance to the stability of the whole Europe. He recommended to the Western Balkan partners to build quality relations within their region, including inter-ethnic relations. The experience of the Czech Republic and other EU member states with reconciliation can be very useful for the Western Balkan countries. Deputy Minister Dürr also recalled the start of the operation of the Western Balkans Fund that is based on the model of the successful International Visegrad Fund and pledged the continuation of the V4 support to this project aimed at strengthening the regional cooperation of the Western Balkan countries.
