08.12.2017 / 09:44
Ministerial Council, which takes place in Vienna on December 7 and 8, 2017, is the key event of the Austrian Chairmanship-in-Office of the OSCE this year. The main topics include the role of Russia in the conflict in Donbass and other unresolved conflicts in the OSCE area, incl. in Georgian Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Generally appreciated is the process of Structured dialogue, within which the participating States have discussed the causes of erosion of cooperative security and trust in the OSCE region. Assessment of implementation of military confidence and security building measures and commitments in conventional arms control is also part of the dialogue. It will continue next year under the Italian Chairmanship-in-Office.
Ministerial Council also discusses commitments in the economic / environmental and the human dimension of the OSCE, incl. the role of the respective autonomous OSCE institutions, fully supported by the Czech Republic. Ministerial Council will adopt a number of decisions to guide further work and participating States action in all 3 OSCE dimensions.
