Deputy Minister Tlapa Held Talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala


Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Martin Tlapa held talks with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Guatemala, Sandra Jovel Polanco, on April 26, 2018. The discussion focused mainly on strengthening relations between Guatemala and the Czech Republic.

The bilateral meeting of Deputy Minister Tlapa and Minister Jovel Polanco took place in the context of the Ibero-american week in Prague. The discussion focused mainly on the issues of strengthening the bilateral relations and identifying topics for deepening mutual cooperation in the area of security, defence, healthcare, the energy sector, tourism and cultural cooperation. Both sides have expressed their interest in extending the contractual base, especially in the field of economic cooperation.

The consultations also provided an opportunity to address some issues of foreign policy or multilateral issues, including the preparation of the next Ibero-American Summit of Heads of States and Governments in 2018. Guatemala, the interim President of the Ibero-American Conference, will host the Summit in La Antigua on November 15 and 16, 2018.
