Their discussion focused mainly on the question of the candidacy of Honduras for the post of Chairman of the 73^rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly in the period of 2018–2019. Both parties also mentioned the preparation of the upcoming bilateral visit to Honduras and ways to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in the area of bilateral trade.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss security and migration issues and current regional challenges in Latin America and Europe.
