Deputy Minister Petříček Received a Farewell Call From the Sudanese Ambassador

Deputy Foreign Minister Tomáš Petřícek received the resident Ambassador of Sudan Ahmed Abdelrahman M. H. Swar Eldahab on August 20, 2018. The Ambassador is leaving the Czech Republic at the end of this month.

Deputy Minister Petříček thanked the Ambassador of Sudan for excellent cooperation, which contributed to deepening of bilateral economic collaboration, kick-started the parliamentary contacts and contributed to the development of cooperation in the area of archeological research.

Ambassador Eldahab explained that the upcoming closing of the Embassy of Sudan in Prague was motivated solely by economic reasons in the context of the latest austerity measures of the Sudanese Government. Sudan is closing a number of diplomatic missions worldwide. Deputy Minister Petříček reiterated that the Czech Republic regretted the Sudanese decision and expressed his hope that Sudan would reopen its Embassy in Prague again in the future.

Deputy Minister Petříček and Ambassador Eldahab agreed that despite the closing of the Embassy in Prague both countries share an interest in developing bilateral relations. From September this year, the Embassy of Sudan in Vienna will be accredited to the Czech Republic.
