Minister Petříček received the new Ambassador of Georgia

On 24th January 2019, Minister of Foreign Affairs Tomáš Petříček received Mariam Rakviashvili, new Ambassador of Georgia, at the commencement of her diplomatic mission in the Czech Republic.

Minister Petříček stated that bilateral relations between the Czech Republic and Georgia can be without hesitation described as very good. Bilateral contacts on all levels are quite frequent and beneficial and both countries share either the same or very similar positions on a number of crucial issues. Nevertheless, much more could be done – e.g. in the field of business and economic cooperation.

The Minister further emphasised that the Czech Republic remains committed to its support for Georgia's efforts to move ahead on the European and Euroatlantic path and considers the peaceful conflict resolution, based on full respect for the principles of Georgia’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, as the only way to ensure just and lasting solution.

Ambassador Rakviashvili expressed gratitude for providing coherent support to her country as for the territorial integrity and EU and NATO integration ambitions that remain Georgia’s top priorities, and expressed hope that the visit of Minister Petříček in Georgia might take place as early as this year.
