Deputy Minister Chmelař conducted consultations on European affairs with Sweden

 

On 25 April 2019, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Aleš Chmelař conducted Czech-Swedish consultations with Director General in the Prime Minister´s Office of Sweden Mrs Eva Sjögren and Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Mrs Helen Eduards whose sections deal with European affairs.

Main topics of the talks were bilateral relations between the Czech Republic and Sweden and issues of the European Union, in particular in context with the Brexit, upcoming EU summit in Sibiu, Romania, and with approaching European Parliament elections, as well as with the Multiannual Financial Framework for a period 2021 – 2027, migration and security issues.

The interlocutors also touched upon the Presidency of the Czech Republic in the European Council in the second half of 2022 and possibilities of cooperation within so called Presidency Trio with Sweden that will take over the Presidency from the Czech Republic in January 2023.
