State Secretary Miloslav Stašek held consultations in the Republic of North Macedonia with his partner Mr. Dimovski and met Prime Minister Mr. Zaev

 

On 22 – 23 May, 2019 State Secretary Miloslav Stašek held consultations in Skopje with his partner State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia Mr. Viktor Dimovski. Within the meeting of Macedonian commerce chambers Mr. Stašek supported Czech companies and on this occasion met with the Prime Minister Mr. Zoran Zaev.
 

During the discussion both State Secretaries appreciated excellent level of mutual relations between the Czech Republic and the North Macedonia and agreed on intense contacts between both countries. Czech Republic supports in a long term perspective North Macedonia in its efforts to join the EU and NATO and is ready to share own experience as well as  professional and material support. Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic intensively cooperates with its Macedonian partners especially in the policy against illegal migration. Both countries declared interest to establish in this context mutual cooperation between ministries of defence. Both partners further discussed cooperation opportunities between Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries, e.g. sharing of Czech experiences with introducing State Service Act and Foreign Service Act.

Huge part of the meeting with Macedonian partner was dedicated to the topic of further development of economic cooperation. This issue was discussed by Mr. Stašek more in details within the meeting with representatives of Macedonian chambers of commerce. Mr. Stašek attended traditional working breakfast organised by the Union of Chamber of Commerce of North Macedonia with representatives of government. On this occasion Mr. Stašek as a guest of honour had a breakfast in the company of Prime Minister of North Macedonia Mr. Zoran Zaev. Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Kočo Angjušev also informed in his speech about new investment deal of Czech company Lokotrans, which is planning to build a railway terminal worth 20 mil. EUR in the suburb of Skopje.

Czech Republic perceives perspective cooperation in the field of water management, waste industry, environmental protection, transport and transport infrastructure, environmentally friendly city transport, construction industry, transport constructions, use of agricultural technologies, cooperation in food and textile industry and in production of medical supplies and medicine. Environmental protection offers great potential for cooperation even with regard to the fact that Skopje belongs to one of the most polluted European cities. North Macedonia is interested in ecological resources and use of funding from the Funds IPA.

Trade balance between both countries reached the amount of 400,9 mil. EUR in 2018. Czech export to North Macedonia was 120,3 mil. EUR and Czech import from Macedonia was 280,6 mil. EUR.
