Czernin Palace hosted the International Space Security Conference

 

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Aleš Chmelař delivered opening remarks at the International Space Security Conference held by the Prague Security Studies Institute in Czernin Palace on 10 - 11 June 2019 on the topic „Evolution of the Counterspace Threat and Strengthening of International Space Partnership“.

The conference is the fifth in the series of prestigious international meetings of the high-level representatives of the main space-faring States in Europe, the USA and Japan, international organizations and leading experts in the space security. Deputy Minister highlighted the rising importance of Outer Space for our daily lives and critical infrastructures as well as the need to preserve the stability of space environment, its long-term sustainability and international governance regime. Deputy Minister also stressed the importance of this issue for the Czech Republic since it hosts the Headquarters of the European GNSS Agency in Prague.

The topics of the international conference include the evolution of the counterspace threat, space domain awareness, space resilience and deterrence, hybrid threats, international space partnerships, space crisis management and the private sector role in space security.
