Judge Hrdličková was appointed as a judge of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon in 2012, since 2015 she serves as its President. The Special Tribunal for Lebanon was established by virtue of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1757 (2006) which brought into force provisions of an agreement negotiated between Lebanon and the United Nations, with the intention to prosecute and hold trials for those who were responsible for carrying out the bomb attack of 14 February 2005 in Beirut which killed the former prime minister of Lebanon R. Hariri and other 21 people. The Czech Republic yearly contributes to the functioning of the Tribunal by voluntary financial contributions.
